Distrupt Dementia Symposium
On May 12th, 2026, WIN was delighted to co-host the Distrupt Dementia Symposium with the Alzheimers Society Southwest Partners, Western Centre for Activity and Aging, and City of London. The event featured community, industry, and academic speakers from WeCanBe, Green Care Farms Inc, Indwell, McCormick Care Foundation, and more who discussed how we can navigate a system not built for caregivers, incorporate needs and preferences into housing options for those with dementia, on developing organizational strategies to creating lasting, scalable care systems, and on how to thoughtfully incorporate diverse communities and their needs into dementia care networks. CIHR - INMHA Visit
On April 8th and 9th, 2026, a delegation from the Canadian Institutes for Health Research's Institute for Neuroscience, Mental Health, and Addictions (INMHA) visited Western. WIN hosted their visit along with Dr. Jibran Khokhar. Scientific Director for INMHA - Dr. Patricia Conrod and WIN Director, Dr. Shawn Whitehead gave a talk during their visit, WIN hosted a Faculty lunch, and the delegation toured Neuroscience Research Facilities at Western.
Montcalm Highschool Visit
In early April 2026, highschool students from Montcalm visited WIN. Trainees, Faculty members, CBM staff, and WIN staff gave the students tours of research facilities at the Western Interdisciplinary Research Building and talked about future career paths for students who are interested in science.
2026 kNOwPain Conference
On March 26, 2026, the kNOwPain Research Group hosted their second annual Conference. WIN staff supported this conference through in-kind support.
Dr. Marco Loggia
In November of 2025, WIN, the Bone and Joint Institute, and the kNOw-Pain Research Group hosted a talk by Dr. Marco Loggia from Harvard University.
